Service: Digital Mindfulness and Meditation App – 7Mind
Description of the service and how it works
(according to § 7 BFSG – provision in an accessible format)
Purpose of 7Mind
7Mind offers guided meditations, psychological content, mindfulness courses, and relaxation exercises via a mobile app (iOS/Android) in various languages. The aim is to support users in improving their mental well-being through regular mindfulness practice.
How the 7Mind works
Access to the applicationThe app can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play.
Registrierung und NutzungUsers register with their email address or via a third-party login (Apple/Google). Afterwards, some free content is available. With a paid subscription, the entire offering can be used.
Content structureThe content is divided into thematic courses (e.g. on stress, sleep, focus) and individual exercises. Each course consists of several sessions, each lasting between 5 and 20 minutes. Additionally, special “prevention content” (“Präventionskurse”) are available that combine theory and practice.
Personalisation and progressUsers can save progress, activate daily reminders, and view their meditation time in their profile. A calendar function supports building a regular practice.
MultilingualismThe app is available in German, English, French, Spanish, and Italian. The language can be selected in the settings or requires the installation of a separate app.
Implementation of accessibility
7Mind aims to enable access to mental health for everyone. To support an accessible environment, we strive to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These internationally recognized standards serve as our guide for creating interfaces that support various assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard navigation.
We have taken the following measures to implement accessibility:
Website:
Keyboard navigation ("tab navigation"), including visual highlighting of focussed elements.
Text descriptions (“alt text”) for the majority of images.
High-contrast color schemes to improve visibility of buttons, text, and backgrounds.
Logical heading and HTML structure.
Optimized for scaling (zoom)
A short description of our app and meditation in general is available in simple language at www.7mind.de/leicht. The site also includes a free meditation as a playable audio file in simple language.
The 7Mind YouTube channel contains a visual meditation in three languages that can also be used by people with hearing impairments.
Mobile App:
Our iOS and Android mobile apps are largely compatible with screen readers like VoiceOver and TalkBack. This allows users with visual impairments to navigate the app by hearing descriptions of on-screen content. We’ve put in significant effort here, and we’re continually learning and improving this feature.
Additionally, our apps offer larger text formats, which is particularly useful for individuals with reduced eyesight, including older adults.
Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is not a one-time issue – it's an ongoing process. We regularly review our digital platforms for accessibility compliance and implement improvements based on user feedback and evolving best practices.
